Build Community and Network Through Cycling!

May is National Bike Commute Month and Bike to Work Day is today May 15. Bicycling is a fun, sustainable and healthy form of transportation.

On Bike to Work Day, events took place throughout the nine-county Bay Area to celebrate this fun and active way to commute. Energizer Stations were strategically located along several routes in the Bay Area between the hours of 6:30-7:30 a.m. or 7:00-9:00 a.m. (depending on location) to encourage novice and advanced cyclists as they pedaled their way around town and to local transit stations.

Cheers to those who braved the HEAT today, with their COOL commutes!

It was encouraging to see folks dust off the old 10-speed or break-in the new mountain bike for a good cause “Bike to Work Day”. I myself was unable to bike maybe because I don’t own one. The weather was just so perfect and it was great to see stations at BART which distributed handbags and material.

From an advertising point of view I would like to see move of a campaign with participation from large sponsors in order to increase ridership, even if it’s just for a day!

I agree with Juan, it would be nice to see more advertising about "Bike to work day". I was also unable to ride my bike to work, because I work really far, but I would love to support the cause by trying other things like walking to the store or friends house instead of driving.
